commercial heat pump grants: UK commercial installation specialists

We design, fund, and install commercial and public-sector heat pumps across the UK. Not solar, not domestic boiler swaps, and not a generalist building firm that adds heat pumps to a long list of trades. Heat decarbonisation for non-domestic buildings is what we do, and it is a genuinely different discipline from the domestic heat pump work that fills most of the search results.

The business was built around a simple frustration. Facilities and estates managers kept telling us the same story: they wanted to get off gas, they had a board breathing down their neck about net zero, and every quote they had seen was either wildly optimistic about running cost or completely silent on how a commercial building actually pays for the work. The £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme that dominates the heat pump conversation is domestic-only, so commercial buyers were being sold a domestic story that did not apply to them. We set out to be the people who tell the real one.

What we actually do

We size and specify commercial air-source, ground-source, hybrid, and high-temperature heat pumps, from a 40 kW boiler replacement in a single office through to multi-megawatt heat networks serving a whole campus. Every project starts the same way. We review at least twelve months of your gas or oil consumption, carry out a proper heat-loss survey, and model running cost and carbon at current and forecast energy prices. You see the real numbers, including the honest ones, before you spend anything.

That modelling matters because the running-cost question is where most of the trust is won or lost. Electricity costs more per unit than gas, so a heat pump only makes financial sense if it is designed to run efficiently. We design for low flow temperatures, typically 45 to 55C, because every degree of reduced flow temperature lifts the seasonal coefficient of performance (SCOP). We quote performance to BS EN 14825 for SCOP and BS EN 14511 for rated COP, the recognised standards, so the figures we give you can be compared directly against any other compliant supplier. We would rather lose a job to honest maths than win it on a number we cannot stand behind.

Why we focus on commercial heat pumps

Heat is responsible for roughly a third of UK carbon emissions, and for most commercial buildings the gas boiler is the single biggest source on site. The buildings that suit a heat pump well, year-round operators with ageing plant and decent fabric or the budget to improve it, are exactly the ones where a careful design and the right funding route make the difference between a project that stacks up and one that does not. That is a specialist job. Get the flow temperature, the emitter survey, the bivalent changeover point, or the electrical supply capacity wrong and the economics fall apart. Get them right and the building cuts its heat carbon 70 to 90 percent while stabilising its running costs against a volatile gas market.

We also know the commercial funding maze, which most installers do not. Because the Boiler Upgrade Scheme does not apply to commercial premises, we map the routes that do: the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme via Salix for public bodies, the Industrial Energy Transformation Fund for eligible industrial sites, the Green Heat Network Fund for multi-building schemes, and full expensing or the Annual Investment Allowance for any business paying UK tax. Mapping and applying for these is part of how we earn our keep, not an afterthought.

Our team and approach

Our engineers are MCS and F-Gas certified, with Gas Safe registration for the hybrid plant rooms where a peaking boiler stays in place, and NICEIC registration for the electrical work. We are manufacturer-independent. We model air-source and ground-source side by side from your data and recommend the system that suits your building, not the one we would prefer to sell. Where a building genuinely needs high flow temperatures we will say so and propose a high-temperature unit or a hybrid design rather than pretend a standard heat pump will cope.

We carry the compliance most installers skip. A BS 4142 acoustic assessment is standard on our external air-source installs so the unit will not fall foul of planning noise limits or disturb neighbours. Refrigerant work is handled under the UK F-Gas Regulation by certified engineers, and we design for the newer lower-GWP and natural refrigerants the F-Gas phase-down is driving, including the DSEAR siting requirements that come with flammable refrigerants like R290.

Honest, and happy to be checked

We share the full running-cost and carbon model with you, and you are welcome to stress-test it or get a second opinion. We plan changeovers around your operating calendar, never a peak-heat week, and on retrofits we keep the existing boiler live through commissioning so you are never without heat. If your building does not suit a heat pump yet, we will tell you, and tell you what would need to change first. That honesty is the whole point of the business.

Accreditations you can verify

We hold every certification a UK commercial installer should hold, and each one can be checked against the issuing body rather than taken on trust.

We design to recognised standards throughout, CIBSE guidance for commercial heat-pump design, BS EN 14825 for SCOP, BS EN 14511 for rated COP, and BS 4142 for acoustic assessment of external plant.
